JOB 01

Tile roof restoration

What the roof was doing when we got there
  1. Terracotta tiles, with moss growth across the surface.
  2. Drainage blocked, so water was sitting on the roof instead of leaving it.
  3. Broken tiles letting water through to the timber underneath.
  4. Ridge caps starting to deteriorate.
What we did about it
  1. Existing leaks repaired first, where the roof has them.
  2. High pressure clean, over 4200 psi.
  3. Broken and deteriorated tiles changed, up to 20 tiles included.
  4. All ridge and hip capping re-pointed with a highly flexible pointing compound.
  5. One coat of primer surfacer.
  6. Two coats of Dulux roofing membrane in the chosen colour.
  7. Gutters cleaned and all downpipes flashed.
  8. All rubble and mess removed, and the property and adjoining properties cleaned up before we leave.

Charcoal tile restoration

The scope on a concrete tile restoration

What the roof was doing when we got there
  1. Colorbond sheeting with the original coating weathered and chalking off.
  2. Roughly 1,600 tek screws rusted, which is where water gets in on a metal roof.
What we did about it
  1. All 1,600 weathered tek screws changed over.
  2. Pressure clean, over 4000 psi, water only, no chemicals.
  3. Rust inhibitor applied where it was needed.
  4. One coat of Dulux MX primer, made for metal roofs.
  5. Two coats of Dulux AcraTex roofing membrane in Monument.

What the roof was doing when we got there
  1. Green growth across the tiles, holding moisture against the roof.
  2. Pointing along the ridges and hips broken down and coming away.
What we did about it
  1. Pressure blast, water only, until every bit of green growth was off the tiles.
  2. All ridge and hip capping re-pointed in charcoal with a flexible pointing compound.
